The Governing Body
The Governing Body of the Town of Edgewood consists of five Commissioners who are elected to four-year terms by the citizens of Edgewood in a non-partisan, at-large election. The Commission, in accordance with state statute, selects from among themselves a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem to fulfill honorary and statutorily required roles.
The Governing Body holds Executive, Legislative, and Quasi-Judicial powers for the Town of Edgewood.
Commission-Manager Form of Government
In Edgewood’s Commission-Manager form of government, the Town Commission appoints a Town Manager who is the Chief Administrator and oversees day-to-day operations of the town under delegated authority from the Town Commission.
The Town Commission also appoints members of the community to serve on statutory bodies (Planning & Zoning Commission, Lodgers Tax Board) and additional advisory boards: Animal Welfare, Economic Development, Library, and Parks & Recreation. The Commission may also create ad hoc committees for special projects or events.
Town Meetings
Town Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Town Hall Commission Chambers at 6:00 PM. Citizens are encouraged to attend to stay informed and provide input.
Meetings are held in person at 171-A NM Highway 344 and live-streamed on the Town of Edgewood YouTube page.
Open Meetings
The Town of Edgewood follows the New Mexico Open Meetings Act. The current Open Meetings Resolution and Rules of Procedure are updated each year and available online.
