Accessibility tools on this site
Click Accessibility in the top-right of the header utility bar on any page to open a tools panel. The panel lets you adjust the site to suit your needs:
- Text size — bump the entire site up to roughly 138% of its default size, in three steps.
- High contrast — switch to a black background with yellow text and cyan links. Useful for low-vision users and bright-sunlight outdoor reading.
- Underline all links — adds an underline to every link on the page, so links are identifiable without relying on color alone.
- Reduce motion — disables animated transitions and smooth-scroll. Helpful for visitors with vestibular conditions.
- Readable font — switches the site to a high-legibility sans-serif (Atkinson Hyperlegible where installed; Segoe UI / system sans elsewhere) with looser line spacing.
- Large cursor — enlarges the mouse cursor for easier tracking.
Your preferences are saved on your device (in your browser's local storage). They persist as you move between pages and across visits, and they never leave your device — no cookies, no server-side tracking.
For keyboard users: a Skip to main content link appears at the top-left of every page when you press Tab from the address bar. Press Enter to skip past the header and navigation directly into the page content. Press Esc to close the accessibility panel when it is open.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
The Town of Edgewood website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
