Can I check out materials without my library card?
Library cards are required to complete checkouts. In some cases, photo proof identification will be accepted in lieu of a library card.
Can I renew my checked-out materials?
Checked-out materials will automatically renew once, on their original due date.
Do I need a library card to access the library internet?
No. You do not need a library card to use public library computers or to access WiFi. When searching for WiFi networks, select ECL Open Wifi.
Do you have a fax machine?
No. Mail & Copy Business Center has one: 2 Marietta Ct., Edgewood, NM 87015 — (505) 281-2400.
Does the library accept donations?
The library does not accept donations.
How do I borrow electronic books and audiobooks?
Use the Libby app (phone, tablet, or computer). Search for New Mexico Library To Go, then enter your full card number and your 10-digit phone number as the PIN. If your phone number doesn’t work, your card may be expired or you may have set a password — call the library to resolve.
How do I get a library card?
Complete a library-card application at the circulation desk or fill it in at home and bring it to the library. East Mountain / Estancia Valley residents are eligible with proof of residency. Children aged 5–17 must have a parent/guardian present when applying. Children under 5 cannot get a library card.
Valid forms of proof of residency: Valid NM driver’s license or NM ID, utility bill, phone bill, voter ID, rental agreement, vehicle registration, bank statement, checkbook.
How do I replace a lost library card?
Provide photo-proof identification. Underage patrons (5–17) need a parent/guardian present with photo ID. Replacement cards are $1.00.
How do I reserve library materials?
By phone, in person, or via the library catalog. When ready, you’ll be notified by text, email, or phone. Books and DVDs held for 5 business days; museum passes for 3.
How long can I check out materials?
- 3 weeks: Books, DVDs, Special Collection Items
- 2 weeks: New Acquisitions
- 1 week: Museum Passes
How many items can I check out at once?
Up to 10 items per library card.
Overdue Materials
The library does not charge overdue fees. However, if a patron has materials overdue by 90 days or more, items must be returned (or paid for if lost/damaged) to restore checkout privileges — for the patron and immediate family. Until cleared, accounts cannot check out, renew, reserve, or submit ILL requests.
Printing & Copying
$0.15 per page for printing (from library computers or smart device) and copying (at the Circulation Desk).
Library Catalog Account
Log in with your full card number plus your 10-digit phone number (or password if you’ve set one). To reset, call the library at (505) 281-0138. Through the catalog you can view checkouts, renew/reserve, view fines, bookmark items, set vacation delays, view checkout history, and update notification options.
